After working on the basement on Saturdays for 8-10 weeks straight, I finally finished it in late August. Part of the motivation to finish it so quickly was to be ready for Amber’s friend Sarah to live there for the month of September while she attended a residency rotation at Emory here in Atlanta.I have to say that I am definitely most proud of this project because I can see the results and more importantly, we have 450sf more of usable space and another bathroom!
I ended up building a simple bar along the side wall to provide an additional seating area, and also built a little custom cabinet to hold the mini-fridge. The fridge looked kind of junky just sitting there alone in the corner. Other features include the spotlight for the dartboard, and the custom built corner entertainment unit for the TV, to save space.
I was starting to wonder what my next project would be … and then Amber quickly reminded me that it would be the birth of our daughter. I guess I should plan on being pretty occupied for the next 18 years or so …
